The McManis family research traces back to the 1700's in Pennsylvania. My documented research goes to Jesse McManis and starts with him in Pennsylvania in 1850 and in 1860 in Ohio. Census reports indicate he and his wife were born in PA - Jesse McManis was born circa 1814 and Leonora Bartholf was born circa 1820. Preliminary research in Pennsylvania indicated through tax records that John (born in the late 1700s in Pennsylvania) may be Jesse McManis's father and that a Joseph McManis may be John's father. However that has not been 100% substantiated. John's wife is Margaret (maiden name unknown). James and Rebecca Bartholf (Rebecca's maiden name unknown) were Leonora's parents and they were living in Clarion County, Pennsylvania (Piney Township) in the 1850 census, as were Jesse and Leonora McManis.

I am interested in continuing these lines back. I am also willing to share my entire research and work with others in furthering this research. I am well sourced.
